Sorry this has taken so long to get to you. Anyway, you asked me how I would use these in magic. I'm sure I will come up with many advertising tie-ins for your million dollar bills. A headline that comes to mind is "You don't have to have a million dollars to hire David Copperfield to get a great magician to make your next event unforgettable."
What I'm currently using the bills for has a more day to day profit margin. Much of the work I do is in restaurants as a close-up, table magician. This means I perform a short show at the client's table. Restaurants are a steady if not high paying venue. I'll perform for about 8-10 table per hour. Part of my income comes from tips. One of the problems for a magician when it comes to tips is that often the people don't know whether it's appropriate to tip or not. The Million Dollar Bills help with this.
Here's how I use them. At some point about midway through my performance I'll borrow a bill (usually a 1 dollar bill). With a little talk about people always kidding me by saying various things like "if you're a real magician, make my wife disappear" or some such comment. I ask to borrow a bill and proceed to fold it up. I tell my audience that people always say "Turn my bill into a hundred dollar bill." I ask, "Why stop there?" I unfold the bill and it has turned into a million.
What happens at this point is important. This trick is actually known as the Hundred Dollar Bill Change. The problem is that if you use a real Hundred the customer who loaned you the bill will often, on half-joking, say, "that's my bill" (as if it were real magic), and offer to keep it. The magician must change the bill back into a $1 bill. A bit of an anticlimax.
Now lets substitute the million dollar bill. Lets face it… If you could do real magic wouldn't you just sit around making a million dollars. The effect makes sense. But instead of turning the bill back into a one I give it to the customer. They all examine it and laugh. They almost never ask me to turn it back to a one. An instant profit of about 85 cents. Not a fortune but it adds up over the course of a night. Even more important is that it also lets the rest of the party know I accept money from them (they know I still have the $1) and the tips come easier.
The final fringe benefit is of course adding a sticker to the back to make it a source of advertising. People keep these and show them around. This results in many additional shows at my regular rates (which are substantially higher than my restaurant rates).
Although it's hard to precisely determine how much extra the technique makes I would say that it easily adds $1 per table to my tips. That means about $8-$10 per hour extra. Most nights are 2-3 hours. depending on how many nights a week I work it could mean one to two thousand extra dollars for zero extra work each year. This represents probably a 25%-35% increase over not using this technique. This doesn't count the private and corporate shows that it contributes to attaining, which even if it's only responsible for a half dozen shows that could mean additional income of $2500-$3500 per year.
I plan to pass this technique on to other magicians in my lectures and newsletters and I may be able to develop a small market for these. There have been a few similar bills, such as a phony 3 dollar bill, which could be used for the same concept but none were as nicely made as yours. Thanks!”
